Pied Piper Staff
Director Maureen Straw received her BS in Nursing from
UCLA. In addition to her ten years teaching at Pied Piper
as our Parent Substitute, she has been a Kindergym
teacher, a Vacation Bible School teacher, and for 12 years
a Registered Nurse in Los Angeles and Oakland,
California.
Maureen joined the Pied Piper family in 1983, when her
oldest daughter attended the school. She served on the
Board as President, Membership Chair, and DAC
Representative. Maureen continued with the school
through her third daughter in 1995, and then began
substituting. She became the school's third director in
2007.
Assistant Director/Enrichment Program Director, Pia
Griffin, received a BA in Humanistic Arts from the College
of Obrebro, Sweden. She has trained in early childhood
education and has worked with children in both Canada
and the US. In 1991, she became part of the staff as
Enrichment Teacher and Head Substitute. In 2008 Pia
took over as Assistant Director upon the retirement of
the previous Assistant Director of 25 years, Joann
Kilmartin.
Angela Bradley, our Enrichment Aide, joined Pied Piper in
2002 as a cooperative parent. She has served on the
Board for three years and was the Substitute Coordinator
in the 2007/2008 school year. She was hired on as the
Enrichment Aide in 2008.
Pied Piper is a member of the California Council of Parent
Participation Nursery Schools; the staff are members of
the National Association for the Education of Young
Children and the Diablo Valley council of Cooperative
Preschools.
Pied Piper is non-profit and does not discriminate on the
